Training our future Leaders and Managers- an inspiration!

Our year of researching and reporting on the most effective Management Training options in the UK is now complete and so we have now introduced our new blended learning ILM qualifications at Level 3 and 4 to meet the needs of Leaders and Managers.

We conducted a extensive research into the needs and preferred delivery methods in order to devise programmes to meet the needs of current Leaders and Managers in the UK.

Why are suitable Management Programmes needed ?

Well the results of our research show that 62% of managers do not hold a management qualification. This actually fits with CMI’s research which showed that 38.4% of managers were qualified to under level 4.

However 62% of managers in the research held occupational qualifications in terms of degrees etc .  But in a large majority of these, the occupational qualifications did not equip them to manage people, departments and lead strategy. The managers still said they needed training in:

  • Managing people
  • Innovation
  • Finance
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Health and Safety
  • Managing strategy

The results also found that 48% of respondents would not find e-learning a suitable method of delivery of management qualification,  48% felt that work-based learning would be unsuitable and 50% said they would not have the time to attend a taught programme . The least suitable would be weekend taught programme.

 The Solution?  Blended Learning

What on earth is blended learning I hear some ask? Well traditional taught programmes, as we know can be costly, time-consuming and not available to all – so e-learning was introduced, but then we lose the contact with others, little tutor support, unrelated to a managers job and work place and sometimes the value can be limited in management development programmes. Blended learning – when planned correctly – captures the benefits of different modes of delivery into a programme uses a mix of delivery methods to suit the individual.

We can say it is …

“Flexible, Suits the individual, Tailored to suit the organisation and job role people work in , Can be taken at a pace to suit, Tutor support and contact with others is maximised throughout”

How is it going so far?

Well what an inspiring month – we are now started to assist managers in Sainsbury’s, Trullo Restaurants, NHS and individual SMEs. They are now able to gain Leadership and Management qualifications related to their work, using learning methods to suit their preferred styles and at a fraction of the cost.

What an inspiration to work with these managers – all so far are in their 20s and 30s- full of inspiration, motivation and aspirations – our future Leaders and Managers …

The future is bright for the UK economy if we have people like this, who are continually developing their management skills – not just their occupational knowledge
